October 2010
Well I did it again but getting second prize this time in the September Making Jewellery Magazine Forum Competition.
Theme this time was a famous city.
San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge at night was my inspiration - four strands of gold enameled wire that were crocheted with around 200 tiny beads to represent the twinkling lights.
My prize was a collection of "Steampunk" beading goodies and guess what the challange for November is "Steampunk or Vintage".

August 2010
I was very thrilled to win first prize in the July Making Jewellery Magazine Forum Competition.
We were given a photo of a lamppost sporting a hanging basket of flowers standing against a curved wall over which towered a massive green hedge on which to base our designs.
My first thoughts - dog cocking his leg against the lamppost and yes I do have a dog that knows every lamppost in the area.
Once that silly thought had gone ideas began to bloom and here is the winning entry, a fibula.
Inspiration came from the curve of the wall, the texture and decorative moulding on the lamppost, the circle of flowers and of course the green leaves of the hedge.
A fibula by the way is the Latin term for decorative Roman Brooches used for fastening cloaks. I use them to fasten scarfs or just wear them on a lapel.
